What I mean is recently the war that made such murderous skills necessary came to an end. I'm afraid a dragon slayer like him does not have much use in such a fragile political climate that aims for preserving peace.
Ironic, is it not? To spend one's whole life honing such specific abilities, to the point you neglect all else, then in a matter of months, such skills are utterly made useless. Almost as tragic as the war itself.

and you have to beat clair for them to let you visit the dragon's den
i'm almost ready to fight her i just have to fight pryce first but i'm doing that soon
then maybe connie and i can go challenge her gym together after connie fights jasmine one more time
Forgive me, I should have made such distinction from the first: it was indeed a war against dragons. Thus did they craft their soldiers in such ways to make them dragon slaying machines. To kill a dragon is no small feat, and most soldiers died to them, than ever getting close to claiming such a feat as their own.
I must say it is quite interesting that your country is not allowed to have its own army nor go to war. Were you occupied by another nation?
[After all, that's no different than what Garlemald did to the nations it subjugated. Except, instead of even allowing them a special defense force, there were castra set in place, with Garlean soldiers occupying them. Keeping those subjugated people in check, while likewise protecting them from aught but Garlemald itself.]
But that's right, the gym challenges. It is passing strange that this world operates on such foolishess, but I suppose that is merely their culture, and I have little right to criticize it. Nevertheless, I do so hope you and Connie are successful in your endeavors against them, would be a pitiful shame should you face defeat.

before that we had a huge army and a navy
but then we lost the war forty years ago so we weren't allowed to have those anymore
and the americans made our emperor tell everyone he wasn't a god
and i've mostly done pretty well on my gyms except the first time i faced bugsy
but i came back and beat him my second time
connie's also done well except jasmine beat her but jasmine is really tough she beat her uncle too the same day she beat connie
but i just beat jasmine in revenge for her beating connie
