Connie... kind of wants to kiss here, but that's always the case, so she's just going to have to deal with it like an adult. By stuffing all of her feelings in a tiny bottle and hoping they go away, because that's the adult thing to do. She gets up along with Akane and rolls her shoulders.
"They do get stronger and can learn more moves, but... it's more about the bond between the trainer and the Pokémon than anything else." No matter how much Connie obsesses about type matchups and relative strength in various areas, there's a reason why she trusts Naga, Artemis, and Cú Chulainn above all of her other companions.
Connie knows enough about Akane's home and her stories about both P-chan and Ryoga to suspect something was up with the two of them, but she also knows enough about Akane to not bring it up. "That's right. Whether a Pokémon is 'strong' doesn't matter—you should always try to win with your favorites." She chuckles sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head. "That's what most trainer guides say, at any rate. I need to follow their advice more."
"I don't think they serve horsemeat here," Akane says, in that way where it's hard to tell if it's a joke or if she's serious. "But then we probably shouldn't keep him waiting."
It's nice that Connie's adopted uncle is willing to do things like that. Akane's wouldn't have. Uncle Saotome did just about everything he could to make sure someone else would pay his bills for him.

Connie wants to ask Akane out on a date. To wind down. But shit, there's no way- too forward- what was she supposed to-

"...I think he did, yeah," she says, chuckling sheepishly as she gets up. "I could REALLY use some food at any rate."
