Solus zos Galvus.

Tell me, do you happen to be acquainted with a man named Estinien? You are the first to whom I am unfamiliar that have received my correspondence, and I should wonder if there is some pattern to this chaos.

[So no discernible pattern, then? Oh well.

He has to stop himself from making a quip about him arguably being both. Frustrated though he may be, he's not about to spill something so sensitive to someone he barely knows. Estinien's trust is far too precious.]

Yes, he is.

I assume you know what a dragon is, so I will save you that lengthy explanation, however a dragoon is a manner of soldier trained in the arts of dragon slaying. Utilizing a lance and aerial combat, they take to the skies to defeat their foes in the environment that otherwise safeguarded them from direct confrontation with man. The most powerful of dragoons—the Azure Dragoon—takes on the burden of draconic power from a relic of sorts referred to as the Eye of Nidhogg. In so doing, this paragon of his brethren can then fight dragon's fire with dragon's fire. A perilous position to be in, for the dragon such an eye belonged to can bend this man to his will, should he prove most feeble in both mind and spirit.

I guess one could say a dragoon is a man who would fashion himself after his foe in order to better even the odds in slaying said foe. Though, I suppose such has been made irrelevant with recent events as they are, but it is no matter.

Quite possibly! Though, he seems to primarily have Pokémon of other persuasions. Perhaps dragon types are rare? Would not surprise me.

What I mean is recently the war that made such murderous skills necessary came to an end. I'm afraid a dragon slayer like him does not have much use in such a fragile political climate that aims for preserving peace.

Ironic, is it not? To spend one's whole life honing such specific abilities, to the point you neglect all else, then in a matter of months, such skills are utterly made useless. Almost as tragic as the war itself.

Forgive me, I should have made such distinction from the first: it was indeed a war against dragons. Thus did they craft their soldiers in such ways to make them dragon slaying machines. To kill a dragon is no small feat, and most soldiers died to them, than ever getting close to claiming such a feat as their own.

I must say it is quite interesting that your country is not allowed to have its own army nor go to war. Were you occupied by another nation?

[After all, that's no different than what Garlemald did to the nations it subjugated. Except, instead of even allowing them a special defense force, there were castra set in place, with Garlean soldiers occupying them. Keeping those subjugated people in check, while likewise protecting them from aught but Garlemald itself.]

But that's right, the gym challenges. It is passing strange that this world operates on such foolishess, but I suppose that is merely their culture, and I have little right to criticize it. Nevertheless, I do so hope you and Connie are successful in your endeavors against them, would be a pitiful shame should you face defeat.

Furthermore, I thank you for the information about the dragon's den, my partner will most certainly be thrilled by such information.
